Instead of regular Tuesday rotations this week, students will be participating in Ability Awareness week. They will go to the library on Friday to return/check out books.
Students received pink slips to bring home that tells you which multiplication tests they have passed and which fact to work on next or continue working on. Many students still need additional practice with their 5s, so we are working on 5s this week again. If your child passed their 5s, I have moved them onto 2s practice. Students know that they can go to our class website for links to multiplication practice under the math section on "Links." There is also a tab titled "multiplication masters" that contains videos and strategies for the different facts. They should be practicing their facts for at least 5 minutes nightly. Students take multiplication tests every Friday. They may ask me to take a test during morning work if they are ready to as well. Students will begin researching and writing about tornadoes and hurricanes this week as we continue our unit on weather. Our first field trip will be in January to Legoland after we finish our science unit on forces and motion. I will send more information on this as we get closer to January. Just a reminder, as always during the school year, please check your child weekly for lice so that we can prevent it in from spreading our classroom. I encourage you to have your child keep their headphones in a ziplock bag as well to prevent this. |
